The Day Trippers


From the surrounding pit villages, day trippers by the bus load descend on the beaches of the north east. Tents are hired and erected by the men-folk who then retire to the nearest pub, leaving the women and kids to enjoy themselves building sandcastles, drinking pop, eating greasy chips and sandy egg and tomato sandwiches. For the real hardy, a dip in the north sea.
