We have all heard elderly folk reminisce about neighbors that could be relied upon during a family crisis, keys left in front doors and indeed doors being left open. How different we are now. For the most part we remain cocooned and insular, with no desire to know too much about our neighbors and not wanting them to know too much about us. In times of crisis there is a paid army of social workers and counselors we can turn to. I painted Windows over a period of two months and tried to depict people in their little boxes getting on with their lives oblivious to what is going on to the right, left, above and below.
