NOISY-LE-SEC MURAL

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of their town twinning activities the Comite de Jumilage (Twinning Committee) invited delegations from South Tyneside (England) the first town to twin with the French town of Noisy-le Sec in 1963, Arganda del Rey (Spain) and Djeol (Mauritania)

The celebrations would begin Friday 20th until Sunday 22nd June 2003

It was decided that a mural to commemorate the event would be in order.
The dimensions were to be 4mtrs x 3mtrs on five aluminium panels to be fixed to the wall of the Centre Gerard Philipe.
Bob produced detailed "rough" preliminary drawing 80 cm x 60 cm in colour and to scale.  He divided the area into four sections, one for each town and the central area for the logo of the Comite de Jumilage.

Within the four sections the coat of arms of each town is in the centre surrounded by a pictorial description of it's history, industry, sport and places of interest.
Photographs of the original were then sent off to France for approval.
Bob had arrived in France 10th June and began work immediately from 7.30am until 6.00pm every day in order to complete the work by 18th. The five panels were give two coats of anti-graffiti varnish then fixed to the wall about five metres above ground level.

The unveiling ceremony was performed by Madame le Maire, Nicole RIVOIRE (Mayor of Noisy-le-Sec ) Saturday 21st June in front of civil dignitaries, delegations from the three twin towns and the townspeople of Noisy-le-Sec.
