The "humble old urinal" at Westoe had gained international status and was on the list of tourist attractions.

ROBERT "BOB" OLLEY

Using his unique style of drawing, painting and sculpture, Bob is able to capture the very heart  and  humour of his native North East.
His love of the Geordie folk, their way of  life and, above all, their sense of  humour,  (which is the essence of most of his work) has given him inspiration since he left the mining industry in 1968.

"Through the sometimes painful transition from the labour intensive, traditional heavy industries of coal mining, ship-building and engineering, I am convinced that it is the humour of the region that has sustained it's people and enabled them to adapt quickly to a different way of life."
